Hepburn gave one of the most brilliant speeches I have ever heard in my life, his oratory skills were incredible. I didn't really get too detailed, but I can if you'd like. If anyone wants to talk more PM me or comment about it. ![]() It's not the best, but its pretty decent. Considering the high amount of both korean and japanese students I have, it made me uncomfortable. One particular video, a woman is speaking korean and he calls her japanese. It's silly, but kind of rubs me the wrong way. Italian guy talking about spaghetti and the like. That's because they go kind of wacky with the settings and stuff.Ĥ) If you care about this sort of thing, they really sort of lean into stereotypes in some of the videos, too. They speak incredibly fast, and I've seen a lot of my low level english speakers really struggling to find out whats going on. I think when producing the videos they sort of left my kids out in the dark. My class is 99% english language learners. They're quirky and they make my kids laugh, but the real value in quaver, I find, is the lessons themselves. Sure, it's great to call on prior knowledge, but I can see students lose interest when it's a song they've done before.ģ) The quaver videos themselves aren't the best. My biggest gripe with the songs is that they re-use a lot of them for different topics and different grade levels. Some are just sort of.there, and I found myself looking for the connections to the lesson from time to time. Some are really well thought out, catchy, and really drive the idea home. It's sort of frustrating to teach a full song sometimes because they don't do a great job breaking up parts.Ģ) These songs are sometimes hit or miss, too. Like, the songs are just sort of put on screen with the words sing-a-long style. I thought that was pretty neat.ġ) While there are a lot of songs that the company has made, they don't really support audiation. Theres a pretty solid recorder section and even a beginner ukulele section for 5th grade. That being said, it was a great resource to cover things that I wasn't sure how to teach, or at least gave me some good ideas for how to create my own lessons which is really great for first year teachers. It's marketed as a curriculum in a box, and I agree a lot with what /u/Idahogirl556 said about my degree being worth more than pushing a button. I'll talk more about this stuff in the cons section, too.Ģ) There are some actually well done lessons. The kids are engaged when we use it, so I guess I'm using technology in my classroom "more" than I normally would. ![]() Sure, I could make many of the games and stuff with the regular SMARTBOARD tech, but this stuff is pretty polished for what it is. Here's my mini review.ġ) As you would imagine, it's great for technology. My school purchased quaver before I started there and it was expected of me to use it once I started there. ![]() SmartMusic (awesome program that allows for self-assessment) The Music Animation Machine - Animations of popular classical songs. There's no doubt Sling TV offers an array of sports coverage - but you'll need to pay close attention to exactly which channels are included in your plan. For example, the popular NFL RedZone channel is only available to Sling Blue subscribers. The channels offered in the Sports Extra package vary based on whether you're subscribed to Sling Orange or Sling Blue. This is largely driven by the exclusivity of ESPN, FS1, and NFL Network - forcing dedicated fans to spring for the Orange & Blue plan if they want to get full coverage. Subscribers to Orange will receive a large number of live NCAA football broadcasts, while Blue subscribers will find more NFL games. Unfortunately, these networks are divided between the Blue and Orange plans. Sports networks available through Sling TV's basic plans or Sports Extra add-on include: While streaming services like fuboTV might be more popular destinations for sports fans, Sling TV features a host of extra sports-centric programming at a lower price - just $11/mo. However, if you just want an HD antenna without additional DVR hardware, you can get one for free simply for signing up with Sling. Opt for the AirTV Anywhere + HD Antenna bundle (a $245 value) for just $99 when you prepay for three months or pick up the AirTV 2 + HD Antenna bundle (a $150 value) for $49 with three prepaid months. If none of the above products fit your needs, Sling TV is running a few promotions to help you get local broadcasts into your home. You can make the most of these local broadcasts by picking up Tablo TV or HDHomeRun, which allow you to record and rewatch your favorite regional programs. Sling TV Blue includes entertainment outlets such as Bravo, Discovery, FX, and E! Some live sporting events are also covered on the Blue plan, which includes FS1 and NFL Network. And although it only has a handful of exclusive channels, there's no doubt they're some of the most popular networks available.
